Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Parc National des Volcans
Upon arrival at Kigali Airport, you will meet your drive guide and drive north-wards through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda's landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome volcanoes with about five peaks visible. It is just 2-3 hours drive from Kigali. Settle into Kinigi Guest House or Gorilla’s Nest for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla tracking
Wake-up early and prepare your self for today’s incredible experience of gorilla tracking.
You will transfer to Kinigi Headquarters with packed lunch, water and light rain jackets, attend a 30 minutes briefing about Gorilla tracking. You are advised to wear trekking boots because tracking goes through steep and slippery jungle grounds of the forest. Gorilla tracking is strenuous and tiresome but meeting and staying with these giant apes is worth the effort. You will be allowed to stay with gorillas for 1 hour for observation and photographing.
If the evening is free, you can take community walk around the area. Return to the same lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Departure
Depart for Kigali after breakfast and depending on your flight schedule, you can take a city tour in Kigali, visit the genocide memorial cites, art and crafts shops and local markets, after which you proceed to the airport for your flight.
End of the Tour

1 Day hike to Mt. Visoke to visit Dian Fossey’s Grave:
Mount Visoke hosts the tombs of Dian Fossey; the American primatologist and of the gorilla cemetery. She dedicated her life to the conservation and protection of Mountain Gorillas in this area for 20 years. The trek to the site is quite spectacular, passing through bamboo forest and afro-montane habitats, criss-crossed trails with tracks of forest buffalo and elephant. You may see all sorts of wildlife as you make our way up and down to Karisoke, nestled between the volcanic peaks of Karismbi and Visoke.
