Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival – Kigali city tour
Upon arrival in Kigali, your professional driver guide will meet you and transfer to you hotel for a briefing and a welcome meal. Proceed for a city tour in the beautiful Kigali. Areas to visit include the 1994 Gisozi Genocide Memorial site, local arts and crafts shops, Kigali Museum and learn the history of Kigali and Rwanda’s pre-colonial and colonial period as well as the colonial masters in Rwanda, and Juru Park; one of the highest points in Kigali to have fantastic views of the city and its surrounding hills and countryside.
If time allows in the evening, we can take you to the Crystal View Cocktail Lounge on the 8th floor of the Top Tower Hotel where the panoramic views overlooking the entire city of Kigali are second to none! Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Kigali – Butare town – Cultural Tour
Have breakfast at the hotel and set off for Butare Town, the second to Kigali. Take a visit to Rwanda’s National Museum regarded to be the best in source of cultural and Historical information in Africa, Murambi Genocide Memorial Center, local fruits markets and interact with local people. Dinner and overnight in Hotel Credo / Hotel faucon.
Day 3: Butare - Nyungwe Forest National Park - Colobus Monkey trekking
Have breakfast and connect to Nyungwe Forest National Park and arrive by lunch time. After lunch, you may go for Colobus Monkey trekking and hike through lush forests, endless, green tea fields and take in the stunning views of your surroundings. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest lodge or Gusakura Rest House.
Day 4: Primates Trekking
Nyungwe Forest is one of the destinations in the world where you can see up to 13 primates species; these include chimpanzees, the Blue Monkeys, L'Hoest's Monkeys, endangered golden monkeys and the Angolan black and white Colobus Monkeys among others. Nyungwe forest has huge concentrations of habituated primates whose troops can include 400 - 500 individuals! This is a unique tourism phenomenon. Return to your lodge for lunch and relax at the lodge as you wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Day Hike / village walks
Have breakfast and take a day hike to Gusakura tea estates, visit and interact with local communities for entertainment through cultural performances. The hike will expose you to excellent bird watching and primates trekking. Lunch en-route, dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest lodge or Gusakura Rest House.
Day 6: Depart to Kigali
Depart for Kigali after breakfast, lunch enroute, connect to Kigali Airport for your scheduled flight back home.
